How Much Screen Time Is Too Much?

Screens are so hard to navigate as parents. On the one hand, you don’t want to rot your kid’s little brains. On the other, it is so nice to set them in front of a screen and do other things..or just take a five-minute mental break. We don’t believe there is a right way to do it. We shared how we handle it. Lauren and Ellyn each have their way of doing screen time with their kids. Listen to find out what they are.

We discussed watching television through the ages. We talked about how it changes as our kids age. You don’t have to watch Sponge Bob and Barney forever. Their preferred viewing does get better. It gets to be more fun to watch with them.

Additionally, We also talked about how we manage screen time for ourselves. We have some struggles with turning off our own screens and allowing ourselves to be bored. We consider ourselves a work in progress.

Correction from the episode. Ellyn misspoke. She mentioned watching the kid’s version of Hell’s Kitchen with her kids. No such show exists. She meant Master Chef Junior. Great show for kids! She and her kids enjoyed watching it together very much.
