Fall Gardening

Listen to Fall Gardening HERE

On this episode, we discussed fall gardening. You’re not done with your garden just because all the vegetables are harvested. Fall is the time to give your gardens a little extra love to make sure it is ready for spring. What you do is at least partly dependent on what you have available. For some, it may be a layer of fall leaves. For others, is could be a layer of cow manure. There are lots of things things you can do to make sure your garden is ready for winter and also getting it ready for another growing season.

We also discussed a few things you can plant for over wintering in the fall. Garlic is an excellent example of something that needs the cold winter months to do well. Garlic is is such a low maintenance workhorse in the garden. You plant it in the fall and dig is up when the lower sets of leaves die around July depending on your zone. So easy! If you’ve never tried it, we highly recommend.

Composting is a huge part of a successful garden so we discussed that a bit too.

Lastly, we touched on a few of our favorite seed companies for non GMO and organic seeds. As promised, please find the links for those below.
